It’s still a few weeks away from opening but will get some national attention when it’s featured on The Food Network.

One in every four restaurants fails or changes ownership in the first year, but that isn’t stopping co-owners Erik Kinkade and Will Peak. “I’m excited, very excited about the whole venture. That’s why I do it. I like keeping things on the edge,” said Kinkade.

They will soon appear on “The Opener.” It’s a show about people who are first time restaurant owners. The restaurant is still under construction and a lot of work needs to be done before the camera crews show up. “The great thing about this is we’ve been doing every thing ourselves. [We did] the faux painting, we made the columns ourselves, and all the chandeliers we’re making ourselves,” said Peak.

It’s an antique that’s getting some new life. It’s adding a little flavor to Commercial Street and putting Springfield onto the national scene at the same time. If all goes as planned camera crews for “The Opener” will arrive in about two weeks.

The Ozarks man competing on “Survivor” confirms he lost his job at Southwest Baptist University. Benjamin Wade tells KOLR/KSFX he’s no longer the women’s soccer coach at SBU.

Despite the fact that SBU has disassociated themselves with the reality TV star, I’m still seeing TV ads for Survivor that feature Coach Wade in his role as a representative of SBU. I wonder how long that will continue?

After spending over twenty years in the tech industry, I feel confident in saying it’s hard to find good tech service. That’s why I laughed out loud when I saw Staple’s “Easy Tech” advertisement on Super Bowl Sunday.

Just as interesting was my inability to name the organization responsible for the ad. The cliched example of the tech displayed in the ad was a too familiar view. All that stuck however was “the Easy Button” and I tied it to another office supply vendor.

One of my business neighbors, a web development business owner, pointed out my mistake and had my sides splitting when he described his vision of what happened at a competitor who felt the need to respond to the positive reviews Staples has gotten for their ads.

Can you name the firm who now has a helping hand?
